Stanisław Lem was a Polish writer of hard science fiction, philosopher and futurologist. He was born on 12 September 1921 in Lviv and died on 27 March 2006 in Kraków. His works dealt with topics such as the development of science and technology, human nature, the possibility of communication between intelligent beings, and man's place in the universe.

The reverse of the coin depicts a fascinating scene inspired by the novel Fables for Robots, one of Stanisław Lem's most famous works. The motif depicts a fantastic robotic city full of monumental mechanical structures, watchtowers, stylised hands and mysterious all-seeing eyes, creating an atmosphere that is both futuristic and allegorical. An imposing robotic figure with a crown towers in the centre, looking out over a geometric cityscape, while a deep red background adds to the dramatic visual impact.

The coin features high relief, fluorescent printing, metallic UV printing, selective gold plating and a selective proof finish.

It comes in a box with a certificate of authenticity.
