Among the most sought-after collector coins are those minted from gold and silver. In addition to their aesthetic and historical value, gold coins also have a high price, which makes them a popular instrument for asset protection. Silver coins are generally more affordable, but can still have considerable collector's value. For example, the Czech National Bank regularly issues limited series of commemorative coins in various fineness grades and denominations, which are not only popular with domestic collectors.

Collector coin price

The collector value of coins depends not only on their material. Decisive factors are:

➡️ Condition of the coin - quality and state of preservation have a significant influence on the price.

The world's most expensive collector coin

The world of collector coins also harbours incredible stories - one of which is the fate of the legendary American Double Eagle coin from 1933. Although this gold coin with a face value of 20 dollars was minted, it never officially came into circulation. Most examples were melted down by order of the government due to the abandonment of the gold standard. Nevertheless, some specimens mysteriously survived - and one of them was auctioned off in 2021 for a record price of 18.9 million dollars. This made it the most expensive collector's coin in the world.
